Joakim was born in 1981 in the part of Sweden where you can't say "r" properly. Now he lives in Stockholm where he is working as a director and screenwriter.

In 2015 he won the After Bergman Award for his screenplay of the short film, Ultimate Fails Compilation. His short film Playground premiered at Gothenburg International Film Festival the same year. The year before, he was awarded by the Children's Scholarship Fund for the script of the feature film Animal Empire. 

Joakim has directed a great number of commercials. Joakim has directed a great number of commercials that have been awarded at Guldägget and Roygalan.  His first job in the commercial industries was writing scripts for the well-known ICA commercial series.

Joakim has a diploma in Art Direction from Berghs School of Communication. As a student, he was awarded in Art Director’s Club of New York and British Design & Art Direction Award. In addition to this, he has taken a bunch of classes and workshops in writing, directing and acting.

Joakim also has a background as comedian and has performed over 200 stand-up gigs in all corners of Sweden, as well as being heard in radio shows and creating books together with the Swedish comedian David Batra.
